Doug Brown

Doug is currently:

~ The Dean of the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico.

~ A Principal of Brown and Brown Ventures, LLC – a holding company for various real estate holding, an Internet company, and several new product activities.

~ Lead director of California Water Service (an NYSE company).

~ Serving on the Investment Committee of the Albuquerque Community Foundation.

~ Trustee of the University of New Mexico Foundation.

Prior experience includes:

~ Doug has served on 50 different Boards and held 18 Board presidencies, including two terms as national head of Stanford University annual fund raising, chair of Albuquerque United Way, Chair of Albuquerque Academy, and President of Albuquerque Community Foundation.

~ During his time as Interim State Treasurer, Doug made key personnel changes, reduced staff by 20%, achieved a clean audit, established good business practices, brought yield on $5 billion portfolio from 46th in the U.S. to 7th, and the fund was awarded a AAA rating by Standard and Poor’s, their highest rating and a first for the state of New Mexico.

Doug will be presenting The Impact of Ethical Lapses on a Corporate Culture at the December 2009 CFO Academy Member Meeting.
